5 Superfoods every skincare fanatic should know about

“When I learned you are what you eat, I realized I was nuts.”

As an aesthetician, my two favorite topics to talk about are good food and skincare. And these two things when combined with a healthy lifestyle can result in good health and a youthful, glowing skin.

To celebrate World Food Day (16th of October,) let’s talk about food — healthy food that will nourish our body and improve our skin’s appearance. Here’s a few of my personal picks that are constants in my grocery cart.

  1. Brazil nuts

Brazil nuts are certainly tasty, but there is an even better reason to eat these rich morsels. They are packed with a powerful antioxidant called selenium, which has been shown to help protect against sun damage and age spots. Some studies have even linked it to the prevention of skin cancer. Plus, Brazil nuts are a good source of vitamin E, which can reduce dryness and increase your skin’s elasticity. Conditions like psoriasis and eczema may be eased by consumption as well. A handful a day is all you need to reap the benefits of this skin superfood.

Now that’s something to be nuts about.
