Happily hydrated: winter skincare

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! But my skin is not feeling it. This winter weather is just wreaking havoc from my head to my toes. To make things worse, we are currently experiencing one of the driest years on record. That means extra dry skin on both our face and body especially when temperatures drop, and we start using heaters.
So, how do we keep skin happily hydrated throughout the cold snap? Getting hydrating facials is on the top of my list. But while we’re home for the holidays, a.k.a. quarantined, and not able to get to our favorite salon for facials, here’s how to treat skin in winter…
Face, neck and chest
- Use an essential oil blend three times a week. Rose oil, rose hip, lavender and grapeseed oil are very soothing and make an excellent night-time blend. You can apply a night crème on top or simply let the oil do its job while you sleep. And talking of night-time moisturizers, use a heavier formula if your skin still feels dry.
- During the day, apply a serum and moisturizer under your sunscreen. Yes, even in the winter months we still need that SPF.
- Slather on lip balm and make sure you apply your eye crème day and night.
